BCP extends outsourcing contract with IBM

IBM announced that BCP has signed a new outsourcing IT that will allow the bank to cut costs in this area by 25 percent over the next ten years. The agreement, which includes «the additional outsourcing of part of the information systems infrastructure of Banco Comercial Português in Portugal, as well as part of the operations at NovaBank in Greece» takes effect from the beginning of the year and implies, on the part of of the bank, an investment of 100 million euros.

In a statement, IBM explains that the agreement may also be extended to Bank Millennium operations in Poland. For this to happen, authorization from the respective local supervisory body is required.

For now, the management of IT infrastructure – in i-Series and Unix systems – in some of its international operations, communications between Portugal and Greece, the second IT center in Tagus Park and continuity are covered by the agreement. associated operations, the document states.

It should be recalled that IBM and BCP were already linked by a contract of outsourcing signed in July 2003, with the same 10-year time horizon. Also in this area, IBM’s national customers include names such as Banco Santander Totta, BPI or BPN.
