Okay, we’ve been talking a lot about the features “missing” in Final Cut Pro X, but what about your performance? Well, people from Bare Feats didn't compare it to Final Cut Pro 7 (not least because I think that would be a little unfair), but at least put it side by side on three different machines:
- MP333 = Mac Pro 2010 with Intel Xeon processor “Westmere”hexa-core 3.33GHz with 24GB ECC 1333MHz DDR3 RAM and AMD Radeon HD 5870 GPU (1GB GDDR5) graphics chipset
- iMac340 = 2011 iMac with Intel Core i7 processor quad-core 3.4GHz with 16GB 1333MHz DDR3 RAM and AMD Radeon HD 6970M GPU (2GB GDDR5) graphics chipset
- MBP230 = 2011 MacBook Pro with Intel Core i7 processor quad-core 2.3GHz with 8GB 1333MHz DDR3 RAM and AMD Radeon HD 6750M (1GB GDDR5) graphics chipset

Yes, all very close and the iMac did even better in two of them! He and the MacBook Pro are the two that have already been updated with “Sandy Bridge” chips; the Mac Pro is about to be updated.
The video in question was a ProRes 422 (HQ) with 32 seconds in duration, 1888 Ă— 1062 pixels of resolution, 23.98 frames per second, data rate of 172.22MB / s and audio surround at 48kHz.
