After filing for bankruptcy, historic Nortel has been selling its assets. This time the company announces the conclusion of an agreement with Avaya, which intends to acquire its business solutions unit for US $ 475 million.
With the deal, the Canadian group’s shares in Nortel Government Solutions and in the softphone maker, Diamondware, will also be transferred to Avaya.
In a statement, Nortel explains that either the solution found for the sale of the business solutions business, or the solution announced on the 19th with the sale of LTE and CDMA skills to Nokia Siemens Networks, proved to be the most appropriate options for maintaining the innovation platforms involved and the service provided to customers.
On the same note, the company guarantees that it continues to negotiate to find the best solutions for other business areas.
Editorial note: The news was corrected to refer to Nokia Siemens Networks. [2009-09-15 11:25] Avaya eventually won the auction to purchase Nortel Enterprise Solutions but regulatory approvals are still missing to finalize the acquisition.
