Avast Cleanup is a free Android application that cleans and speeds up your phone.
The app allows you to hibernate background processes to optimize RAM memory and erase unused applications and useless files to free up space to store more photos and videos.
The tool is ideal to be used in old devices or with old hardware, which are slow and warm up after some time of use.
In the following walkthrough, check out how to use the free Avast Cleanup app to optimize your Android phone.
The procedure was performed on a Moto G7 Play with Android 9.0 (Pie), but the tips are valid for any device with the Google system.
The application does not have an iPhone version (iOS).

Step 1.
Install the Avast Cleanup app on your phone.
When opening it for the first time, tap «Start» and then tap «Basic version» to use the program without paying anything;

Step 2.
On the app’s home screen, tap «Start here» to have Avast Cleanup scan your phone.
Then, tap on «Grant permissions» and provide all necessary permissions for the app to work properly;

Step 3.
Once this is done, tap «Run the scan» and wait until the process is complete.
When finished, press «Quick Clean» to eliminate unnecessary files;

Step 4.
In «Free memory», it is possible to hibernate the processes in the background to reduce the RAM consumption.
To do this, choose the desired apps and tap «Hibernate apps» at the bottom of the screen;

Step 5.
Tap «Tips» to receive suggestions for actions to optimize your phone.
On the tips screen, swipe sideways to see all suggestions.
To perform the action, just touch the indicated blue button;

Step 6.
In «Media», you can discover video, photo and audio files that are taking up space in your phone’s memory.
Touch the desired option to delete the files and free up space;

Finally, under «Applications», you can uninstall unused apps, remove updates, erase application data, and view information about storage and battery usage.
