Auchan still doesn't know if he wants to be MVNO

The Auchan group, holder of the Jumbo brand, was one of the companies to ask the communications regulator for a license to enter the market as a virtual mobile operator (MVNO) but has not yet launched any offer taking advantage of this authorization and remains without a decision About the subject.

Eduardo Churches, president of the group, explains that the distribution company will only consider the matter when the economic environment is calmer, he told Jornal de NegĂłcios, adding that this is a decision without a deadline.

The Auchan group maintains a virtual mobile operation in France and requested a license to proceed with an identical operation in Portugal in 2007. Since then, it has not yet done so, a little like what happened with other orders such as Media Capital or AutomĂłvel Clube. from Portugal. Both also requested authorizations from Anacom to launch operations that were never born.

Outside the universe of telecommunications operators, CTT represents the MVNO operation with the greatest visibility in the market, through Phone-ix. At the end of the first half of last year, the service had already reached 100 thousand customers.

The authorization granted by the regulator to Auchan also covers the provision of Internet access services.
