Ataribox with APU from AMD and Linux as operating system

A new Atari console should paint on the market in 2018, the Ataribox, as it is being called, seeks to redesign the classic Ataris and bring, in addition to a retro console (just like Nintendo), also bring an entertainment system based on on Linux.

2018 should bring Ataribox to the market, it will use an AMD APU with a Linux-based operating system, with the intention of bringing entertainment and nostalgia to consumers. The idea is that it works as an Android TV Box, similar to what we have today, with an open source system so people can do whatever they want with it.

In a statement, Atari’s general manager, Feargal Mac Conuladh commented:

“People are used to the flexibility of a PC, but most of the devices we connect to TV today have closed systems and their own content stores. Ataribox is an open system, and while our user interface is simple to use, people are free to customize the operating system. ”

Theoretically, we will have an AMD chip tailored for him, as well as its drivers for Linux. The design that resembles a “modern retro” should please many people who will want it in their living rooms.
