At an annual meeting with Apple shareholders, Tim Cook once again stresses the importance of Macs

You know that CEO who likes to talk, but can't? This seems to be the case for Tim Cook. Turns and moves, in some interviews, the CEO of Apple releases some as "the best is yet to come", that "we will see incredible things soon", among other things beyond obvious but that are part of the speech of any corporate leader . At the annual meeting of Apple shareholders, which took place today (Tuesday, February 28), this was repeated.

Obviously, the meeting itself is quite bureaucratic and focused on business, such as the election of Apple's board of directors, approval of executive compensation and approval of the company responsible for accounting (Ernst & Young), all of which were duly approved. Some shareholder proposals, however, were denied, including one that compelled Apple to be more diverse on its own board and another that advocated disclosure (to shareholders) of organizations that Apple donates money during the year.

But that does not mean that the meeting is 100% focused on corporate matters, linked to shareholders; Cook participated in a question and answer session, not before talking a little about the current scenario: the success of the iPhone (which sold 78 million in the last fiscal quarter and became the best-selling smartphone in the world in the period yet this is not a company goal), Apple Watch (which had its best fiscal quarter since it was launched), in the category "Services" (that if it were an independent company it would be listed on Fortune 100), gives subscriber base of the company (on Apple Music there are 20 million, but since Apple sells subscriptions to other services like Netflix, the company interacts with 150 million subscribers), etc.

The most interesting part, however, happened when the CEO was asked about the company's commitment to the professional market. Cook said that there are still many revenue opportunities outside the "iPhone world", citing Macs, Apple Watches, the "Services" category and iPads as essential to Apple's growth. “You will see us doing more in the professional field. The creative community is very important to us. ”

What does that mean? No one knows. It may be an indication that Macs will once again gain the attention that this market requires, new accessories / specific products to meet the demand of this audience or just the basic maintenance of some of these product lines.

Cook was also asked about a possible launch of a Mac with touchscreen. As always, the executive left on a tangent stating that he does not like to talk about products that have not been launched; on the other hand, he said that the focus is to work so that the iPad increasingly becomes a replacement for the notebook, but not for the Mac (since the Mac does much more). That is, do not expect to see a Mac with touch screen coming by

What can we get out of this speech? It is not the first time that Cook says this, but he again made it clear the importance of the Mac and a (professional) community that apparently has been suffering from the lack of updates without mentioning, of course, some of the choices the company has made (as in the MacBook Pro, which many complained about lack of connectivity, RAM limit, etc.).

About the AirPodsCook commented that Apple is making as many units as possible and said the headphones are a “cultural phenomenon” as incredible as it seems, it is still very difficult to get one in practically all of the company's physical stores; on her website, the delivery time (globally speaking) is about six weeks.
