Asus refreshes its line of gaming notebooks with new Intel processors and innovative technology

Currently, overcloacking is dispensed with, using internal intelligent systems to self-regulate, says Andr Gonalves. When you have a motherboard designed from the ground up, you can offer more than a standard reference design. However, users are still able to tinker with components, be it processor cores, overcloacking or other settings in the Asus Armory app. There are pre-defined profiles, such as Turbo, silent mode, performance, and everything is done automatically, based on the content. It is even possible to manually control the fans, in this tenth generation, whether to turn them off completely, how to set the average or maximum. Of course, in risky situations, due to temperature changes due to the fans being turned off or extreme overcloacking, the system takes control and refreshes the machine again.

Asus says it was the first manufacturer to introduce charging via USB-C with a power delivery system, allowing laptops to charge via a power bank. The new models have 180, 240, 280 W chargers, with the possibility of doing reverse charging, using the laptop battery to charge mobile phones. The manufacturer promises chargers smaller than the previous generation by about 20%, but also lighter, with the advantages of heating less and being more efficient. Asus points to 60% of the computer loaded in 30 minutes.

One of the company's dilemmas is related to NVidia Optimus technology, a system that allows you to disconnect the dedicated graphics card, using the GPU integrated in Intel's CPU to extend the autonomy. But this implies that the internal output of the signal to the monitor has to be connected to this graph, which makes G-Sync impossible, that is, the ability to synchronize the refreshing of the frames from the card to the monitor, and thus keep the games more fluids without breaking the images.

NVidia Optimus technology is a system that allows you to disconnect the Nvidia graphics card, using the graphics card integrated in the Intel CPU, which increases efficiency. But this implies that the monitor output must be connected to the CPU graph. To obtain G-Sync, the ability to synchronize the monitor speed refresh rates, especially for games, so there is no loss of frames. The images break, at a constant frequency.

Asus developed an "in house" technology to interleave the two video output systems, introducing two output rails, similar to having two PCs connected to the same monitor, but using a GPU Switch, without the need to restart the bios.

Another important aspect is DIY for users to open laptops, to change components and make ugrades. The guarantee seals of the machines do not cover the screws. The brand bets on the screws to facilitate opening, without the usual pressure hooks, so that users can open the covers quickly.

Finally, and before talking about its new laptops, the company established a partnership with Games Planet, to sell legitimate video game keys, with some discounts offered by Asus.

Zephyrus Duo 15 is the tenth generation of Asus laptops

Asus claims that all laptops of the tenth generation ROG use liquid metal in the contacts, but with a special composition to maintain maximum efficiency and avoid short circuits.

In this sense, the ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 becomes the crown jewel of Asus laptops, an evolution of its two-screen machines, after the ZenBook Duo. It is an ultra-thin gaming-oriented laptop with a screen 15-inch main and 14.1-inch touch screen, offering even more area than the previous one. As shown, the bottom screen rises from the base when the main is opened, allowing the user to adjust the angles independently. Below the second screen a ventilation space is opened, thus offering another air passage for cooling.

The main screen runs images at 300 Hz and has a 3 ms refresh rate. Inside there is a 10-generation Intel Core i9 processor, 32 GB of RAM at 3200 MHz, two 1 TB SSD in RAID 0. It also has an NVidia GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER graphics. It also has a 90 Wh battery to power the two screens.

Still in relation to the screens, the main one presents panoramic images at 16: 9, but the second one intends to be dynamic, adapting to the use, with different image rates. The user can choose a 32: 9 image, the equivalent of a panoramic monitor; divide it into two 36: 9, equivalent to two ROG Phone screens; or in three 48: 9 images, plus or minus three small independent 5.5-inch screens.

This time Asus intends to give more personality to the second screen, offering even more possibilities. The company has established a partnership with Overwolf, a company specializing in custom overlays, which can be added to the additional screen. For example, users can turn the screen into a kind of companion app that is typical of a smartphone, to help games with additional information, such as League of Legends, Fortnite and CS: GO. And there are already stadiums working with the configuration of the second screen, like Techland that will allow it to be used as a chat in Dying Light 2.

Regarding the availability of the ROG Zephyrus Duo 15, there is still no date for Portugal, just one briefly, as well as prices. But he is getting ready to spend some good thousands on this top of the range.

Hot pink the futuristic color of Cyberpunk

Inspired by the futuristic environments of Cyberpunk, namely the video game created by CD Projekt RED, the ROG Strix G has a special edition Electro Punk, featuring a vibrant pink punk rock, reminiscent of the neons of science fiction films. The computer is accompanied by a line of accessories for making pand, including the keyboard, mouse, mouse pad, wireless headphones and backpack, filled with the usual Aura Sync lighting system.

The new ROG Strix G15 has a 10-generation Intel Core i7 processor, with eight cores and 16 threads. The graphics is an NVidia GeForce GTX 1650 Ti to bring a 144 Hz screen to life. Like its brother Zephyrus, it has Wi-Fi 6 support, as well as NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD storage. It has two extra slots in case users want to add more SSD, supported by RAID 0 technology. It supports up to 32 GB of 3200 MHz DDR4 SDRAM.

The manufacturer has not announced the price and availability of the model in Portugal.

Finally, the trio of the main notebook computers from Asus closes with the ROG Strix SCAR 17, a model designed mainly for eSports, equipped with the main high-end components on the market. Starting with its graphics, an NVidia RTX 2080 SUPER, which powers a 17 inch screen at 300 Hz, with a refresh rate of 3 ms.

Inside it has a tenth generation Intel Core i9-10980-HK processor, with 8 cores and 16 threads; accompanied by 32 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM. It has two NVMe RAID-0 SSD and slot for a third.

The computer does not yet have a release date.
