Asus officially unveils the ROG Phone 3: it's all about gaming

The day has arrived for Asus to present the third generation of its gaming smartphone line, the ROG Phone 3. Information leaks have already made the model known in some images, which does not differ much from the previous version. Keeps the Republic of Gamers logo on the rear in RGB light. As with its range of portable computers, Asus this year presented its products with a futuristic cyberpunk theme. And it was with a lively and colorful video clip, full of what Asus even opened its ROG Phone 3 presentation event, resulting in the company's leader entering the stage in a virtual way. "Faster and more powerful" were prominent words for his next gaming smartphone, and he unceremoniously took the equipment out of his pocket and showed it to the camera.

In the company's view, the smartphone must have greater control for better gaming experiences, thus confirming the specs that were circulating: the Snapdragon 865 Plus 5G processor, up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM. It also has an external cooling system, attached to the rear called Aerocover 3, to keep the equipment always fresh. And inside the Evolved GameCool 3 system, helping to "blow" hot air out of the equipment

A 6.59-inch AMOLED screen was also revealed, with a refresh rate of 144 Hz and the touch sensation has 270 Hz of Touch Sampling Rate. The 6,000 mAh battery was confirmed to power the equipment, with support for fast charging of 30 W. Its speakers were also highlighted, with the GameFX system, with surround sound coming from the sides for greater immersion. As for new generation news, the AirTrigger 3 trigger system, together with a motion sensor in six formats, ways to press buttons for interacting with games. HyperFusion technology also supports 5G signal connections and also Wi-Fi 6, so that online connections are fast and stable, says the company.

It was also shown that the cables are connected on the side to avoid discomfort while holding the smartphone to play. It also has two built-in microphones to cancel the ambient noise, improving communication. The company has an ambition to create a community of players on mobile, and with that the ROG Connect tool.

The smartphone has a system of three cameras at the rear, and a front of 24 MP. As for the lenses at the rear, the main one is a Sony IMX 686 sensor with 64 MP and an aperture of 1.8; a second 13 MP wide angle and a third macro. It also has a directional microphone built into the set.

Accompanying the smartphone, Asus has prepared a line of accessories that include a portable monitor, the 15-inch ROG Strix XG16 and 144 Hz refresh rate. The screen can not only serve as a smartphone support, as another company laptop and can be used vertically or placed as a frame, on the table. This screen also has an internal battery of 7,800 mAh and USB-C and Micro HDMI connections.

There is also a pair of noise canceling earphones. The ROG Kunai 3 gamepad fits two controls on the smartphone, drinking "too much" inspiration from the Nintendo Switch system. Asus has also unveiled the ROG Falchion mechanical keyboard for players who want a closer experience of the PC, which is also involved in the Aura Sync lighting system and a 2.4 GHz RF response. The brand promises about 400 hours of life on a single charge.

The version of the ROG Phone 3 with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB of internal storage costs 1099 euros. The 12/512 GB version will cost 999 euros, and in the case of the markets that received the Google Stadia service, three months will be offered for free. Finally, there is also a "lite" version, the ROG Phone 3 Strix Edition with the "normal" Snapdragon 865 processor, with 8/256 GB for 799 euros. Smartphones are already available in Portugal, accessible through the Asus website.
