The monitor was announced at CES 2017

THE ASUS announced its new line-up monitor for professional gamers, the ROG (Republic of Gamers), The Swift PG27UQ, in 27 inches can be considered “the ultimate gaming monitor” as it has 4K UHD resolution, refresh rate of 144 Hz, HDR and technologies quantum dots.

It is the first monitor with resolution 4K UHD (3840 x 2160 pixels) with a 144Hz refresh rate. This means that it will be able to reproduce high resolution images at 144 frames per second, ideal for FPS games. The high refresh rate provides smooth gameplay without lags and anticipates the player’s vision, giving a certain advantage in gameplay.

Despite the incredible possibility, the difficult thing will be to find hardware powerful enough to deliver 4K at 144Hz, considering that today the best you can get is 4K at 60 FPS with a lot of suffering on the part of video cards, but looking to the future is always the best option. I bet that in up to 2 years we will have intermediate boards capable of this feat.

But don’t be fooled into thinking that the Swift PG27UQ is a waste of time (and money). This monitor is ahead of its time and with 27 inches, a panel IPS and HDR, not only the games, but movies and series will have more dignified image quality and definition. To watch Netflix in 4K with HDR on an IPS panel it’s a fantastic experience, by the way.

Returning to the monitor, it is worth mentioning that it is compatible with the technology Nvidia G-sync, which guarantees fluid gameplay, with little lag and without wear. Quantum dot technology is also present and offers the PG27UQ a wide range of DCI-P3 colors providing a more realistic image and smoother color transitions. In addition, the monitor has a peak brightness of 1,000cd / m², great for HDR, and high contrast ratio for the distinction between light and dark tones.

It also has two DisplayPort 1.4 and a door HDMI for content playback 4K UHD and versatile connectivity. The design of the is another differential. With five axes it can be placed in different positions, in the way you like best to play, in addition to LEDs at strategic points, including below the support, which make a kind of “Batsinal” with the ROG logo on the table.
