AssistiveTouch: is it still necessary to use this feature to avoid breaking the Home button?

Originally created to help users with problems performing multi-touch gestures on iGadgets, the resource AssistiveTouch was “discovered” a few years ago by iPhone users with Incio buttons (Home) defective. Even with the broken component, the virtual button on iOS allows all functions to be accessed normally.

Okay, fine. But the fragility of the button ended up encouraging many people to activate AssistiveTouch * before * facing any problem with the component, mainly due to the fear of having to spend expensive with the repair, something common, according to the Business Insider, mainly in Asia and South America.

And it did make sense for a long time. I don't know exactly if it was on the iPhone 4s or the iPhone 5, but Apple changed the button mechanism and I personally never had any problems again. And I never used AssistiveTouch (I hate it).

I'm not here saying that everyone should abandon the use of AssistiveTouch and that they certainly won't have any problems with the iPhone's Home button, but I really believe that Apple has solved the general weaknesses of the component. A few years ago, it was only a matter of time before he started to fail.
