
Ar Telecom yesterday marked the start of its operation in Porto with the entry into operation of the first base station in the city. In a statement, the company explains that it will now proceed to the progressive extension of network coverage using TMAX technology, a wireless technology that supports the offer triple play operator.
In the area of greater Porto the next areas to be covered will be Ramalde, Senhora da Hora, Paranhos, S. Mamede, Custóias and Pedrouços.
«This moment symbolizes a decisive step in the national expansion project of the most advanced digital fixed wireless network in the world and the confirmation of a bet on the capacity of innovation and technological development of a Portuguese group», underlines João Pereira Coutinho, president of the SGC group, which owns Ar Telecom.
The TMAX network, developed on a BFWA radio platform, offers voice, Internet and television in a flat rate model with prices starting from 10 euros per month, up to 55 euros and prices ranging between 2 and 10 Mbps.
The project was officially presented to the market in September last year and aims to cover the entire country in a period of five years.
