Last month, we talked about Apple’s return to Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the largest electronics fair in the world, after 28 years of absence. At the time, however, the information was that Apple’s presence at the event would be discreet, summing up to a participation by the company’s senior director of privacy, Jane Horvath, at a round table on the topic.
For it seems that Cupertino’s triumphant return will not be limited to this: according to the Bloomberg, Apple will mark a special presence in the 2020 edition of the fair to show the advantages of the HomeKit, your home automation system.
Mark Gurman’s report provides an overview of the three companies most involved in the industry: Amazon, Google and Apple. According to insider, the first two are expected to present, at CES, new features and equipment linked to their home automation systems. Apple, on the other hand, is unlikely to introduce new products or features, limiting itself to showcasing HomeKit’s existing capabilities.
This does not mean that users with both feet stuck in the Apple ecosystem will leave the fair empty-handed: accessory manufacturers are expected to present several new creations integrated with Apple’s automation protocol.
It is worth remembering that, last month, the three companies (Apple, Google and Amazon) announced that they are working together to create a new open standard for smart home devices, which will make the integration between these devices simpler even if they are running on platforms. many different. There is no information, however, if the next CES will bring more information about this long-awaited novelty.
CES 2020 will start next Tuesday (7/1) and will continue until the 10th. We, of course, will keep an eye out for all relevant news.
