Apple's podcast platform surpasses 50 billion downloads / reproductions

The importance of Apple to the world of podcasts undeniable. Now, it starts with the fact that the middle name itself came about because of the iPod.

In recent related news, we had great news in the iOS 11 Podcasts app, the adoption of the name “Apple Podcasts” (abandoning “iTunes”), the release of a new podcast analysis tool (still in beta) and references to an app dedicated to get to macOS.

A few days ago, Apple revealed Fast Company that its podcast platform surpassed the incredible brand of 50 billion downloads / reproductions since it was created in 2005. Even more frightening (positively speaking) the growth curve: there were 7 billion in 2014, 10.5 billion in 2016 and only 13.7 billion last year.

Apple houses today 525 thousand podcasts around the world including, of course, ours: the On Air. Together, they add up to more than 18.5 million episodes published with content distributed in more than 100 languages and 155 different countries.

Podcasts are more alive than ever.
