Apple’s netbook in October?

Apple already has more than 250,000 applications available

Apple has long been expected to launch a netbook. In the rumors that traditionally anticipate the major annual events linked to the manufacturer, it is the type of forecast that almost always succeeds, but so far without materialization.

A news item published by the China Times gives new impetus to the theme, referring to the existence of agreements with local manufacturers to produce the equipment, which would be included in the range of Apple laptops with a prominent place due to the low price.

The Asian publication that advances the news ensures that three Apple manufacturers in the region (Foxconn, Wintek, Dynapack) already have direct orders from the company led by Steve Jobs to start producing the equipment, which some experts guarantee will work on Mac, others on a version of the iPhone operating system, the iPhone OS.

According to the same source, the equipment will have a touch screen with 9.7 inches and will reach stores with a price of around 800 dollars (573 euros), above the average price of netbooks available on the market, largely due to the option for the screen touch, anticipates.

Apple has always shown little interest in the netbook market as it is an option capable of offering low performance to users. Limitations in terms of screen and keyboard size are often referred to as constraints.

If the rumor is confirmed, it is not difficult to conclude that the success of this new segment will have its relevance in the decision. Other reticents have already done the same, such as Toshiba, which took a long time to enter the market, or Sony, which only next August will launch the first netbook, positioned by the company as such.
