The day is busy in Cupertino today: Apple unveiled the new MacBooks Pro with eighth and ninth generation Intel processors and, on top of that, announced the expansion of the recall Macs that have problems with their butterfly keyboards.
Now, one more program has started: the repair for MacBooks Pro of 13 ″ that present the feared problem of “Flexgate”, which causes instability in the machine screen backlight due to the type of cable installation flex that connect the screen to the logic board – this article details the situation with more information.
Apple had not yet acknowledged the flaw, but has now finally admitted that “a very small percentage” of 13-inch MacBooks Pro, model 2016, may suffer from the problems of “Flexgate”. Just to leave no doubt, these are the models covered by the program:
- 13 ″ MacBook Pro (2016, two Thunderbolt 3 ports)
- 13 ″ MacBook Pro (2016, four Thunderbolt 3 ports)
15-inch MacBooks Pro, as well as models from other years, do not enter the program – at least not yet.
If your MacBook Pro is one of the models listed above and has such problems with the screen backlight, you can contact Apple Support or make an appointment to take the machine to an official Apple store or an Apple Service Center. Apple Authorized Service; even if the computer is out of warranty, Apple will repair the problem by replacing the damaged LCD.
It is good to note that the program will be available for MacBooks Pro for four years after the date of purchase of the computer or for two years after today (May 21, 2019) – whichever is greater.
