Apple will produce version of the French series "Calls"; BBC Films executive is hired

Apple's machinery to get its original serial platform and service up and running streaming video continues at full throttle. Recently, two more news about what we informally call “Apple Studios” came to prove it, both from the Old World.

"Calls"

The first one comes from Variety: Apple commissioned the production of the first season of an Anglophone adaptation of the French series "Calls", created by Timothe Hochet.

In its original version, the innovative format program features short episodes, of a maximum of ten minutes, with real stories told only through green audio sources, with little visual intervention, we do not know how much of this format will be taken for adaptation and tastes less, let's say, avant-garde the rest of the world.

The American version of "Calls" be co-produced by Apple in partnership with the French channel Canal +, responsible for the original series; As part of the agreement, Ma also acquired the rights to the first season of the French program. It may be that something really cool comes out of here!

Joe Oppenheimer

The second new feature from “Apple Studios” is also courtesy of Variety: Ma recently hired Joe Oppenheimer, celebrated English programming executive who spent much of his career at BBC Films.

Joe Oppenheimer

Oppenheimer will report directly to Apple's creative director in Europe, Jay Hunt, and will be based in London with a team designed to probe trends and possible agreements with stadiums and producers that present attractive proposals for the English market, one of the most traditional producers and consumers of content. in the world, and therefore one of the most important.

Certainly the efforts are many, let's see if they will generate interesting fruits.
