Apple will no longer participate in SXSW 2020 due to Coronavirus

THE Apple announced from yesterday to today that will no longer participate of the South by Southwest (SXSW) 2020 event – which is supposed to still take place in Austin (Texas, United States), March 13-22 – due to concerns about the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Netflix also just kicked off.

According to information from Variety, Apple intended to present at least three new Apple TV + projects at the event – including a preliminary premiere of the documentary «Beastie Boys Story», by Spike Jonze, the animated series “Central Park” and also the project «Home».

Other companies that had previously canceled their participation in SXSW 2020 include Amazon, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok and Intel. Even so, the organizers of the event are insisting on its holding and worse, denying refunds to participants who wish to give up.

Annually, SXSW – a major festival of cinema, music and technology – attracts more than 100 thousand people from all over the world and, if not canceled, will be an exception among several other large events that have been completely aborted or, at least, least postponed.
