Apple will allow developers to create ad blockers for Safari on iOS 9

For a long time, the Safari for OS X allows the use of advertising blocking extensions. On iOS, however, this was never possible. Until now.

Content Blocking Safari Extensions

When iOS 9 is released, apps can use content blocking extensions (Content Blocking Safari Extensions) which allow some types of content to not be loaded in the mobile browser. In other words, Apple left the ground ready for developers to create advertising blockers and make them available on the App Store.

It is difficult to say whether Apple designed this architecture to make this type of creation feasible or if it had something else in mind when it made this possible on iOS 9, good or bad, although it does not run on browsers, the company also has an advertising network (iAd) and you know that in many cases this type of resource pays the bills for some projects.

At the same time, Ma intends to insert its advertisements in the new news application (News) that comes installed natively on iOS 9 it, of course, will not be affected by these possible blockers; to top it off, by doing this the company does not let it nudge Google (the main source of revenue for the search giant precisely for advertising).

Regardless, at least taking into account the App Store's approval history, this process must be very strict with this type of content in order to prevent abuse. Let's hope the company shares more details about how the new feature works.
