Pretend surprise: the Apple watch accounted for almost half of all smartwatch sales launched in the second quarter of this year, once again becoming the gadget most popular on the market, according to a new survey shared by Strategy Analytics.

According to firm data, Apple sold about 5.7 million Watches during the last quarter, gaining 46.4% market share which, of course, contributed to the company maintaining its leadership in the ranking. Overall, from April to June were sold 12.3 million smartwatches all around the world.

Growth in Apple Watch sales also contrasted with Ma's figures for the same period in 2018, when Apple sold about 3.8 million devices. Thanks to Watch, the smartwatch market as a whole has grown by 43.6% in the last year.

Second and third place came to Samsung and the Fitbit respectively with about 2 million and 1.2 million smartwatches sold worldwide. Of the three, Fitbit was the only one that had a drop in its sales, causing its market share to change from 15.2% in 2018 to 9.8% this year.
