Apple Watch SDK is now available to developers

Apple has just announced the release of the SDK (software development kit, or software development kit) of your watch, the WatchKit, for developers. It is a set of tools to easily create experiences designed specifically for the Apple Watch.

Apple Watch is our most personal device ever made, and WatchKit provides the incredible iOS developer community with the tools they need to create exciting new experiences right from their wrist. With the iOS 8.2 SDK beta, developers can now start using WatchKit to create innovative new apps, look and actionable notifications designed for the innovative Apple Watch interface and to work with new technologies, such as Force Touch (pressure sensitive screen), Digital Crown (digital watch crown) and the Taptic Engine (haptic mechanism). ”

Philip Schiller, senior vice president of worldwide marketing for Apple.

Actionable notifications allow users to interact with them, either to take action (such as turning off the lights at home when leaving, accessing your flight data or retracing a route if something happened on the previously stipulated route). The Looks (Glances) is nothing more than important information for the user, such as sports results, alarms and a next step in a culinary recipe.

Apple Watch allows us to make the Instagram experience even more intimate and momentary. With actionable notifications you can instantly see and enjoy a photo or react with an Emoji. Instagram news and watch lists allow you to see more photos of your friends, follow new accounts and get a real-time view of your likes and comments.

THE iOS 8.2 beta (build 12D436) is now available to developers. In addition to it, the company also released Xcode 6.2 beta with WatchKit (build 6C86e).

As Apple itself makes clear in the press release, WatchKit includes programming guides, human interface guidelines, models and more. However, only from 2015 developers will be able to create fully native applications for the Apple Watch.
