Apple has already shown signs that it is testing (or will start testing soon, at least) the technology 5G on their future iPhones, and it looks like they’re not kidding in that sense: now, Ma is pushing the US regulatory body to have the freedom to do so without restrictions.
Who informed was the Business Insider: Apple has submitted an FCC (PDF) application (US telecommunications agency similar to our Anatel) requesting that a wide range of high frequency waves from 95GHz to 3,000GHz be left free, without licensing, for testing 5G technology and any other future communication technologies.
The FCC, like Anatel does here, divides the wave bands by frequencies for each purpose: television, mobile internet, telephony, radio, etc. Apple says it is up to the market, not the government, to decide what will be done with these high-frequency bands, which are currently not allocated to any sector; leaving them in the hands of the agency could limit innovation and make it impossible for companies to test.
As Apple has some patents related to 5G and has even entered into talks with Intel for the processor giant to provide modems compatible with the technology for future iPhones, it is certainly in your interest that the range remains free for all tests you want to do ; it remains to be seen, of course, whether the FCC (and companies in other segments) agrees with this or whether it has other plans for such waves.
