As the rumors said, Apple today updated its line of white MacBooks with a new design unibody made of polycarbonate, featuring 13.3-inch LED displays, a new multi-touch glass trackpad and Apple's famous sealed battery, promising up to seven hours of autonomy. The novelties all come from Apple's professional line of MacBooks, but in a product starting at US $ 1,000.
"The new MacBook includes many of the wonderful features found in the innovative MacBook Pro, such as an LED backlit display, glass multi-touch trackpad and a long-life built-in battery," said Philip Schiller, senior vice president, worldwide product marketing from Apple. “With the only line of notebooks made entirely with unibody, LED-backlit screens and long-life batteries, there's never been a better time to switch to a Mac. ”
The case of the new MacBooks makes them lighter and more durable. The bottom surface has a non-slip design and, weighing just 2.1 kg, the machine is great to take up and down. The viewing angle of the new display is the same as that of MacBooks Pro, and MacBooks feature a 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of RAM, 250GB hard disk and integrated NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics chipset.
The battery of the new MacBooks not only incorporates the benefits of those we already know in MacBooks Pro, but also more friendly to the environment, offering up to 1,000 refills. The line as a whole is the greenest ever created by Apple, earning the EPEAT Gold seal and meeting Energy Star 5.0 requirements.
The new MacBook's 13.3-inch screen offers a resolution of 1280 × 800 pixels. Other specifications of the machine, which costs US $ 1,000 in the US: 3MB shared L2 cache, front-side bus 1.066MHz, capacity for up to 4GB of RAM, 8x SuperDrive, Mini DisplayPort video output, built-in AirPort Extreme 802.11n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, Gigabit Ethernet port, built-in iSight camera, two USB 2.0 ports, one audio line in port / out and 60 watt MagSafe out adapter.
