Apple updates line of MacBooks with new processors, more battery and new version in pink gold [atualizado 3x]

Apple has just announced the second generation of its line of MacBooks with a 12-inch Retina display, bringing new Intel processors, improvements in graphics performance, faster flash memory and an extra hour of battery life.

Keeping the same aluminum monoblock housing (unibody) – only 13.1mm thick and weighing 0.92kg -, MacBooks also gain Apple’s fourth “official color”: pink gold, which joins the three existing ones (space gray, silver and gold).

The new MacBooks feature Intel Core M processors dual-core Sixth generation “Skylake” with up to 1.3GHz (with Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz), faster LPDDR3 RAM of 1.866MHz, Intel HD Graphics 515 (promising up to 25% higher graphics performance), flash memory based on the PCIe interface and a “all day” battery that promises up to 10 hours of web browsing or up to 11 hours of movie playback through iTunes.

Unfortunately Apple does not seem to have heard the cheers of the fans and kept only a single USB-C port on the machine (still without support for Thunderbolt 3), betting on a completely wireless world (wireless) with 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. The FaceTime camera also remains limited to a resolution of 480p.

The updated line will be available starting today in the United States, starting at $ 1,300 for an Intel Core m3 configuration dual-core 1.1GHz, 8GB RAM and 256GB flash memory. The Intel Core m5 version dual-core 1.2GHz, 8GB and 512GB will cost $ 1,600.

MacBooks Air

Because of the price difference, MacBooks Air are still on sale. The novelty is that Apple today made 8GB of standard memory in all of its 13-inch configurations.

Nothing else was changed on Airs.

As soon as the new MacBooks launched, Apple already made available a Bluetooth Update for them focused on improving compatibility with third-party Bluetooth devices.

The 157.8MB update requires OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 or higher.

The new 13-inch MacBooks and MacBooks Air with 8GB of RAM are now available for purchase in Brazil, all with a 2-3 week shipping deadline. Apple has readjusted (down, thankfully) the prices of several Macs around here.

Christina Warren, from Mashable, already has the new MacBook in hand and ran a test of benchmark fur Geekbench. The tested version is 1.2 GHz.

This gives us CPU performance 15-20% higher than the previous model.
