"Defending Jacob" shows signs of great success, but Apple TV + still has trouble keeping users

Documentary series «Dear …»

Apple signed a contract for a new documentary series called «Dear …», according to information from the Hollywood Reporter. More precisely, the production will present biographies of celebrities from an “inventive and cinematic approach”, as disclosed by Apple itself.

The series will feature world-renowned personalities, including the presenter Oprah Winfrey, the journalist Gloria Steinem, the filmmaker Spike Lee, the actor Lin-Manuel Miranda, the actress Yara Shahidi, the singer Stevie Wonderthe gymnast Aly Raisman, the dancer Misty Copeland and even the fictional character Big Bird, from “Vila Sésamo”.

«Dear …» is being produced by filmmaker RJ Cutler alongside Todd Lubin, Jay Peterson, Jane Cha and Lyle Gamm. All ten episodes of the first season will be released on June 5.

New comedy «Trying»

Apple also announced a new series produced in the UK called «Trying», which will be released on May 1st.

The production is described by Apple as a look at “growing up, settling down and finding someone to love”. Rafe Spall and Esther Smith will star in the series as Jason and Nikki, a couple who want a baby but cannot have one.

Premiere of “Amazing Stories”

Among the collection of productions that will debut soon is Apple’s next science fiction, the series “Amazing Stories”, produced by Steven Spielberg.

“Amazing Stories” is a recreation of the original 1980s series and was one of the first that Apple included in the Apple TV + catalog. Each episode of the first season will tell a story, something similar to the series «Black Mirror» and «Twilight Zone».

The stars of “Amazing Stories” include Dylan O’Brien («Maze Runner“, «Teen Wolf»), Victoria Pedretti (“You”), Josh Holloway («Lost», «Yellowstone»), Sasha Alexander (“Rizzoli & Isles”, «Shameless») and Robert Forster (“Twin Peaks ”). Production will air on the day March 6.

Premiere of «Home Before Dark»

«Home Before Dark» is a series focused on the story of the child journalist Hilde Lysiak, a young woman who moves from Brooklyn to a small town. Her search for the truth leads her to discover a homicide case that everyone in the city tried to bury.

The production stars Brooklynn Prince, Jim Sturgess, Abby Miller, Kylie Rogers, Adrian Hough; the first season, which contains ten episodes, will be released on April 3.

The series «Defending Jacob» is starring Chris Evans and Michelle Dockery, and will debut on April 24th.

“Central Park” is an animated series created by American voice actor Loren Bouchard and will debut in the middle of this year, according to Apple.

The production is described as an animated musical comedy focused on the Tillermans, a family who lives and cares for Central Park in New York.

Premiere of “Visible: Out On Television”

Finally, the company also released the release date for another documentary series: “Visible: Out On Television”, which will deal with the most remarkable moments for the LGBTQ + community on television, in addition to the protagonists of these events on the small screens.
