Apple TV +, Apple’s new streaming service, opened on Friday (1) in more than 100 countries, including Brazil. Priced at R $ 9.90 per month, Netflix’s rival has a catalog full of movies, series, TV shows and documentaries, including content licensed and produced by Apple itself. Exclusive platform titles include «The Morning Show», «Dickinson», «See», «For All Mankind» and «The Elephant Queen». The company promises releases every month, in addition to the ability to download content to watch when offline.

The application subscription can be shared with up to five people and users have seven days free of charge for testing. The streaming service works by application on the iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod touch and Mac, from the macOS Catalina update. It can also be accessed online (at tv.apple.com), and on other platforms, such as some Samsung smart TVs. Soon, the app will be released in media centers, such as Amazon Fire TV, LG, Roku, Sony and VIZIO.

The monthly subscription (R $ 9.90) has a very competitive value, since it is lower than the price charged by Apple in the United States (US $ 4.99, equivalent to about R $ 20 in the quotation of the day). Another advantage is to receive a year of streaming for free, if the user purchases a new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod Touch or Mac.
This Friday, three episodes will be released for most Apple TV + series, while other services usually release full seasons at once. In Apple’s streaming, a new episode is released every week. The content is offered subtitled and / or dubbed in almost 40 languages, with subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing (SDH) or closed captions. The series and films have audio descriptions in eight languages.

The main competitors of Apple TV + are Amazon Prime Video, an Amazon service, and Netflix. Prime Video is part of the Amazon Prime package, which arrived in Brazil in September this year and offers several services, such as streaming videos, music, Prime Reading, Twitch Prime and free shipping on site purchases. The price is the same as the Apple TV +, R $ 9.90 per month. Netflix, on the other hand, has a less competitive value compared to rivals, with subscriptions starting at R $ 21.90, but it has a large collection of films and series, including several own productions.
