The market for wireless headphones is booming and Apple has taken advantage of it, according to the latest survey conducted by Counterpoint Research.
To have an idea, in the fourth quarter 2019 this market has grown 53%, reaching sales of 51 million of units. The United States was the major driver, growing 76% and accounting for 35% of the global market – largely due to seasonal promotions and the launch of AirPods Pro.
Because of the launch, by the way, Apple recorded incredible growth of 44% in the last quarter of 2019, even facing production problems to keep up with all the demand – in the U.S., the delivery time for AirPods Pro when purchased online is now in four weeks.

Apple’s share has dropped somewhat – after all, competition is stirring and many new wireless headsets are being launched out there. Still, she snapped 41% of market share and 62% of revenue. Taking 2019 into account as a whole, we are talking about 130 million wireless headsets, with Apple being responsible for 47% addition (that is, 61 million units) – snapping up the same 62% total billing.

Xiaomi maintained second place in the quarter, supported by strong sales of Redmi AirDots, followed by Samsung, QCY and JLab.
For 2020, the Counterpoint Research believes that Apple will sell more than 100 million wireless headsets. Not bad!
