Apple to receive award for restoring historic New York sites by installing its stores

O New York City Landmarks Conservancy today announced that Apple will receive the “2016 Chairman’s Award”, recognizing the company's efforts to preserve the city's historic structures in the places where it installs its stores, as noted (Google Translate) the ifun.de.

Today Apple has six stores in New York: Fifth Avenue, Grand Central, SoHo, Upper East Side, Upper West Side and West 14th Street. Four of them, however, stand out precisely because they are in historic locations (Grand Central, SoHo, Upper East Side and West 14th Street). Aware of this, Apple made a huge restoration in all of them, respecting historical elements as much as possible and even incorporating them into the store's design.

O Chairmans Award it was opened in 1988 to recognize organizations and companies that show dedication to protecting New York City's rich architectural heritage.

Ma will receive the award on March 9.
