In the update of the iPod touch page with the update for the iPhone 3.0, Apple highlighted the possibility of being able to use accessories for games with its media player, thanks to the new operating system.

Third party gaming accessoriesConnect fun new gaming accessories via the 30-pin connector or Bluetooth on iPod touch.

Although Apple announced and demonstrated support for third-party accessories during WWDC ’09, the first time it commented on the existence of devices designed specifically for use with games.

With the standardization of the connection through the dock / Bluetooth connector and the native support for iPhone OS 3.0, iPod touch will gain a number of weapons to continue in the fight against the Nintendo DS and PSP in the handheld games market.

Now, we can already imagine a joypad like the iControlPad hitting the market. Or, who knows, even some more elaborate device, like the ones used in Guitar Hero and Rock Band series.
