A website that promises to deliver iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus units for free to Internet users has entered the sights of Apple in Brazil. The company confirmed to the dnetc that its legal department “took action” against the «My iPhone Free» page, whose address ends in .with. The company also stressed that it has no relation to the page.
The page features the apple brand and the message “Congratulations! To receive your free iPhone, please complete the instructions below (sic) ”. A question on the topic, published in the dnetc Forum, reaffirms Internet users’ doubts about the alleged offer.

To receive the supposed free cell phone, the Internet user should send a link to ten friends. The procedure is similar to that of scams that go viral on WhatsApp, with supposed offers from the fast food chain, coffee shop and chocolate shop.
Those responsible for the page still use an address starting at https, which usually indicates a secure page. However, the Chrome browser (from Google) warns that the alleged security certificate does not exist. «You should not provide any confidential information on this website (for example, passwords or credit cards), because it can be stolen by attackers,» says a message in the browser.
