The CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, joined the Ad Council (American nonprofit organization that produces, distributes and promotes public service ads) and other executives from major US companies to launch the White House campaign “Find Something New” (“Find Something New”).
It aims to promote education and training opportunities for students and adults, amid the record numbers of unemployment caused by the new Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19).
In a statement to publicize the new campaign, Cook said that now, more than ever, it is crucial to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
Now, more than ever, we need to ensure that everyone has the tools they need to succeed and take advantage of new opportunities. To invest in our future, we have to invest in people, education and the many paths to a well-paid job or to start a new business.
The campaign’s website emphasizes that “jobs are changing” and that the pandemic has only “accelerated the pace” of this process. The page also has details about the different programs and resources available to people looking for new jobs and looking to improve their skills, including certification courses, online learning, associate’s degrees, business training, among others.
Besides the Apple, the campaign is receiving support from companies like IBM, Cisco, Home Depot, Lockheed Martin, Visa, Walmart and others.
