As expected, Apple recently sent all technical documentation for the iPad to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which is equivalent to our Anatel. The product must be approved by it before it can be marketed in the United States.
Although we already knew that the iPad would support Wi-Fi 802.11a / b / g / n, which we don't know that it will be dual-band, operating at both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies (much less “clogged” than the old one).
At the FCC, the iPad was registered with two models: A1219 which only has Wi-Fi, and A1337 which combines Wi-Fi with 3G (GSM 850/1900 and UMTS 850/1900). The capacity of the devices matters little to the FCC, as the important thing for it is wireless communication radios, such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
