Apple spending on research in development exceeded $ 3 billion in the last quarter

As Apple products evolve, it is more necessary for the company to invest in new technologies and innovative concepts.

And this is what it has been doing, increasing more and more its investments in Research and Developmentin order to improve its products and services.

During the first fiscal quarter of 2018 alone, Ma spent more than $ 3.4 billion in R&D. This figure represents about 4% of the company's net sales, being US $ 410 million higher when compared to the last quarter (ended in September), and an increase of US $ 536 million compared to the previous year.

According to Apple, this annual growth attributable to new hires may be that Apple Park is largely responsible and expenses related to R&D, in addition to investments in “new and updated products and services, which are fundamental to the company's main business strategy. ”.

While in 2014 and 2015 the company spent 3% of its net income for R&D, it disbursed US $ 10 billion in 2016, which represented 5% of its total income. If it continues at this pace, that number could even be exceeded throughout 2018.

And where does this large amount of money go? In addition to the routine hiring and maintenance of products, one of the bets would be a large investment in research related to augmented reality, not only in software (ARKit), but possibly also some type of hardware that may be announced in the coming years. Another possibility would be the software for autonomous cars that has generated several researches and, therefore, needs a good amount of investment.

Will we see some fruits of this billion dollar investment later this year? 😉
