Apple silently launches a repair program for certain Macs with video problems

Mysterious problem hits Macs Pro running Avid software; solution is on its way

Quietly, Apple launched a new repair program aimed at homeowners. Macs Pro manufactured between February 8 and April 11, 2015 – just over two months.

According to MacRumors, some machines may have defective graphics cards causing video problems – in some cases mere instabilities, in others more extreme even preventing the system from starting.

Affected Mac Pro owners should send their machines for graphics card replacement to an Apple Retail Store or Authorized Service Center, a process that can take up to 3-5 days. The program is valid until May 30, 2018.
