Apple scores top score on corporate equity index (again)

Apple is proud to be a company that takes concrete and solid steps in search of becoming a more inclusive and diverse environment, and this effort is reflected in the recognition of external bodies.

For some years now, the Cupertino giant has achieved top scores in surveying corporate equity at Human Rights Campaign (HRC) – and in 2019 it was no different, as informed by Fortune.

The organization, the largest in the United States dedicated to working for diversity, civil law and employment opportunities for LGBTQ + people, recently released its corporate equality index for 2019. The score indicates the actions taken by a particular company in favor of sexual diversity , as well as the receptivity of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transsexual people (in addition to other classifications on the spectrum) by these companies.

For the 17th consecutive year, Apple achieved the top score, 100 – which is hardly surprising, considering Tim Cook’s active work in LGBTQ + causes, the company’s diversity actions and Apple’s very positive attitude towards minorities.

The best news is that the 2019 survey had the largest number of companies with the highest index in HRC history: there were 571 companies with a score of 100 – including several Apple competitors, such as Amazon, The Facebook and the Microsoft.

THE Google it is a separate case. It would also get top marks in the survey, but had its index suspended until it solves a problem that has surrounded Google Play: until now, the company has not banned a perverse app that promises to «cure gays» (already removed from the App Store last December ). The Mountain View giant’s score will be promptly returned as soon as that action is taken, according to HRC.

As for Apple and all well-rated companies, keep it up. ?
