Not new that Apple is researching / investing in augmented reality. Tim Cook has already made that clear on some occasions and there are even rumors that the company is working in glasses with the technology. Robert Scoble, a veteran of the technology market, decided to add more fuel to the fire.
According to Scoble, an employee of Carl Zeiss confirmed that, with Apple, they are working on augmented reality glasses that are due to be launched this year. This would explain, at least in Scoble's view, why there was nothing about augmented reality at the Zeiss booth at CES 2017, even though he was located right in the middle of the augmented reality area in one release at the fair, however, Zeiss listed as a wearables and not as augmented or virtual reality.
Scoble believed that something like this would only be released by Apple in 2018, but now he thinks that this year does not pass. Obviously, no one can check if the information is green and therefore it is properly categorized as a rumor. It is worth mentioning, however, that Zeiss already has a product focused on virtual reality: the VR ONE PLus.
