Apple renews line of notebook computers with PowerPC G4 at 1.67 GHz

Apple today introduced news in its line of PowerBook laptops, which now integrate a faster PowerPC G4 processor, more memory and connectivity wireless improvements, as well as new features regarding disk protection and navigation with TrackPad. The new models are aimed at image and creative professionals and will hit the North American market later this week.

The five new models feature 1.5 or 1.67 GHz PowerPC G4 processors, faster hard drives and graphics cards. Base memory is 512MB SDRAM, expandable to 2GB and connectivity wireless offered is AirPort 802.11g and Bluetooth 2.0, also supporting Gigabit Ethernet and Firewire connections.

The screens of the new models vary between 12 and 17 inches and prices range from 1,499 to 2,699 euros, depending on configurations.

The new navigation features TrackPad and the motion sensor are included among the two main novelties of the new notebooks. Sudden Motion Sensor is still awaiting a patent and is designed to protect the hard drive in the event of a sudden fall, blocking the possibility of data damage.

With this renewal of the notebook line, all PowerBook models include the iLife ’05 application package that integrates the iTunes digital music manager, the iPhoto photo sharing and organization application, the iMovie video software and the iDVD DVD recorder. and the GarageBand recording studio.
