Apple remains the main target of so-called “patent trolls”

Just as we have been following for a while, the Apple remains the company most targeted by calls Patent trolls (also known as Non Practicing Entities, or NPEs) in short, companies that register patents just to sue others (without applying them to actual products / services, often without even having employees).

According to new research released by Unified Patents, Apple is already facing 25 new lawsuits of this type since the beginning of 2015. The fact that it is the most valuable company on the planet and has a huge pile of money in the bank should contribute a lot to this.

Apple as target of patent trolls

The forecast is that the number of patent-related lawsuits this year will be more than 6 thousand, against 5,000 in 2014. In the sector high-tech, 90% (!) Of the cases opened so far in 2015 were by NPEs.

As long as there is no reform in the patent system in the United States (and it seems that there is already a movement in that direction there, fortunately), this type of litigation will remain quite common.
