Apple releases update for iMac graphics and another for RAID card firmware

Apple also released two hardware-related updates today, one for iMac graphics and the other for RAID card firmware.

The recommended update for users of iMacs with graphics cards ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro or ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT, running Mac OS X 10.5.2 or higher. It updates the firmware of both, improving the stability of the system.

Apple RAID Card Firmware Update (26.12MB)


It brings several general corrections, including:

  • Reliability improvements during startup and power recovery;
  • Corrects a common mistake in rebuilding degraded RAIDs 5;
  • Resolves an issue that could fill the flash file system on-board;
  • Improves battery status management and reporting.

The update that requires Mac OS X 10.5.8 or higher is recommended for all users of Macs Pro (late 2006 and early 2008) and Xserve (ditto) with Apple RAID cards. For more information, check out this Apple support article.
