Apple releases update for 15 ″ MacBooks Pro equipped with T2 chip

Apple today released a macOS 10.14.5 supplemental update for owners 15-inch MacBooks Pro equipped with T2 security chip.

New MacBook Pro (2019)

According to Apple, Apple T2 Security is the second generation of chip developed by it, created to redesign and integrate several controllers found in Mac computers, such as the system management controller, the image signal processor, the audio controller and the SSD controller.

The T2 chip offers a new level of security by including a coprocessor for Secure Enclave which protects Touch ID data and provides the foundation for new encrypted storage and secure boot capabilities. The image signal processor of the T2 chip, in turn, works with the FaceTime HD camera, allowing improvements in tone mapping and exposure control, in addition to automatic exposure based on facial detection and automatic white color balance.

Well, the update (952MB) solves a problem related to this chip (in MacBooks Pro 15 ″) and is recommended for all users of these machines.

If you have the notebook, you can download the update from the Apple website or by going to System Preferences »Software Update, on macOS itself. For those interested, soon the more detailed information of this update should be painted on this page.
