Apple today released some new details about the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2017, more specifically regarding tickets and scholarships offered to students.

Tickets

To purchase your ticket ($ 1,600), you must necessarily be a member of the Apple Developer Program or the Apple Developer Enterprise Program (accounts created as of February 16, 2017); registration for the ticket draw will open on the day March 27 (a Monday), at 2 pm (at the time of Braslia). The opportunity to purchase tickets for WWDC17 will be offered by random selection.

For the time being, the company has not informed the registration deadline for the random drawing of tickets (so, in order not to take any risks, it is good to register on March 27). 😉

Scholarships

WWDC scholarships reward talented students with the opportunity to attend the conference. Developers selected for a grant will receive a ticket to WWDC17 and free hosting. Enrollment for scholarships will also begin on March 27.

To run for one, a student must be 13 years of age or older; have a free registration as an Apple developer or be a member of the Apple Developer Program; and be a part-time / full-time student or member / alumni of an STEM organization.

The step-by-step to apply for the scholarship involves:

  1. Tell a little about yourself Apple;
  2. Provide information about your school or organization;
  3. Upload your project to Swift Playground (create a visually interactive scene on a Swift Playground that can be tried out in three minutes; you can use Swift Playgrounds on iPad or Xcode on macOS);
  4. Describe your creation at Swift Playground (what technologies were used and more, in 500 words or less);
  5. Provide optional information (information in addition to WWDC, if you need travel assistance, information from your CV).

The requirements for the project at Swift Playground are:

  1. Everything must necessarily have been created by you. Group work is not considered;
  2. The project must be created using Swift Playgrounds on the iPad or Xcode on macOS;
  3. The project should work correctly and run on the latest releases of Swift Playgrounds / iOS or Xcode / macOS;
  4. All content must be in English;
  5. The size of the project (in ZIP) must not exceed 25MB;
  6. Any features of your project must be included locally, in the ZIP file you provide the project to be judged offline.

According to Apple, projects will be evaluated according to the technical realization, the creativity of ideas and the content of written responses.

Students can submit their projects until 10 pm (at the time of Braslia) on April 2; everyone will be notified of the status of the scholarship by April 21st.

More information can be found on the official WWDC 2017 page.
