A few days ago Apple confirmed that it will open its beautiful store Carnegie Library in Washington, D.C., this Saturday (11/5).
We had already seen an exterior photo of the similar store from the top of this article, but now Apple has revealed images of the interior of the store to quench our curiosity.
"Apple's biggest historical restoration has ever been made," the company said in a press release. The library was originally founded by Andrew Carnegie in 1903.
From the size of the store, you can imagine that your staff Don't be small. Apple has hired (or relocated) 225 space professionals, speakers of 27 different languages, and more than 20 of them are fluent in the American Sign Language (American sign language, or ASL).
In addition to the store itself, on the ground floor, the second floor of the building still houses the DC Historic Center, which includes the Kiplinger Research Library, three galleries and a museum store.
“Whether consumers come to explore new products, visit one of our Geniuses or unleash their creativity at a Today at Apple, the Apple Carnegie Library is a place for everyone, ”said Deirdre OBrien, senior vice president of retail + people at Apple. “We look forward to sharing this magnificent space with all our visitors in Washington, D.C., and providing a new home of inspiration for the next generation.”
The entire Apple Carnegie Library project is another partnership between Ma design director Jony Ive and the architecture office Foster + Partners.
“I love the synergy between old and new, the juxtaposition of historical structure and contemporary design,” said Ive. “In its 'new' phase of life, the Apple Carnegie Library will be a way for us all to share our ideas and excitement about the products we create while giving people a sense of community, encouraging and nurturing creativity. It was a significant honor to restore the Carnegie Library to the people of Washington, D.C. ”
The store's grand entrance on K Street has been completely revitalized and there is also a huge new staircase at Mount Vernon Place. Much of the interior is illuminated in a totally natural way.
For those in the US capital, the Apple Carnegie Library will be open from 10am this Saturday, May 11th.
