Following recommendations issued from yesterday to today by Santa Clara County, where is the city of Cupertino, Apple issued an internal statement recommending that its employees work from home if possible.
Similar measures and recommendations are being taken by several companies located in Silicon Valley – including Amazon, Google, Facebook, Twitter and Microsoft – in order to contain the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Today’s alert, obtained by Business Insider, currently covers only employees of Apple Park, Infinite Loop and other Apple offices spread across the region. Its physical stores are still open and operating normally there.
Obviously, not all Apple teams are able to do their jobs remotely. At least for now, this is not a problem; the communiqué only contains a recommendation, not an actual requirement.
The number of people infected with the virus is already close to exceeding 100,000 worldwide.
