Apple plans to revitalize iPads with apps running side by side, larger new models and support for multiple users

No news for anyone that, despite selling a lot, the iPads are “down”. For some quarters, sales figures for the Apple tablet have been dropping. How best to combat this? Presenting relevant news to the public, making them want to purchase the product.

Because what Apple is doing, according to sources in the 9to5Mac.

Applications running side by side

This rumor is old and we have even seen references to the feature in iOS 8 codes. But it seems that now for real and that Apple should really demonstrate everything at WWDC 2015.

Apparently the feature took a long time to get ready because Apple prioritized things like leaving iOS 8 round for the new screens of the iPhones 6 and 6 Plus, in addition to also being very busy with the development of the Watch OS. Now that things are “calmer”, the resource should finally gain the light of day.

This split mode would have three possibilities: split screen in half, an app occupying 1/3 of the screen or, of course, 2/3. There is also the possibility, when the screen is split in half, to open two different applications or two versions of the same app (ideal for, for example, comparing two texts, two internet pages, etc.).

“IPad Pro” (with 12-inch screen)

Everything indicates that the feature of apps running side by side works and will also be released for the current iPads, but Apple performed all its tests on 12-inch tablets (the supposed “iPad Pro”). Speaking of which, there are two models referred to by the codenames J98 and J99 (most likely the Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular versions).

This new iPad should not arrive now, since iOS still needs to be adapted for it (some native apps will have to be practically redone to take advantage of the big screen) not to mention that Apple is still waiting for the release of some components to place the product in the market.

Multiple users

Yes, my friends! It seems that my prayers and those of many other users have, of course, been heard and Apple is planning to release this feature for iPads. That way, users can easily share an iPad, keeping their apps, emails, files and sensitive information tied to a particular account. In other words, a family could have just a single iPad easily divided between father, mother and son (each account with its own configurations).

But would Apple sell less iPads? Yes and no. This is a practically essential resource in companies and educational institutions. Making the iPad more attractive to these sectors as well, Apple has the chance to sell more and more iPads, not to mention that many home users who have opted for an Android tablet because of this feature will be able to rethink the iPad when they buy new ones.

The annoying part is that this feature is not yet ready and we will most likely not see anything about it now on the WWDC, not even with the arrival of iOS 9. Most likely it will arrive in some future update of the new version of Apple's mobile operating system ( iOS 9.1, 9.2, etc.).
