Apple opens the code for the Swift programming language

Debt promise. Apple today opened the code of its “new” (it deserves quotes, since it is already in its second version) programming language, the Swift.

The new site Swift.org is on the air, which features not only the blog that already existed but also documentation, downloadable items and other related materials for developers interested in working with the modern language.

The whole project open source from Swift (distributed under the Apache license) has been divided by Apple into multiple repositories, published on GitHub. Also available now is a port for Linux of the language.

Much of the new apps that have been released for iOS, OS X, watchOS and now tvOS are already being developed in Swift.
