Apple Music exceeds 40 million installations on Android while gaining support for Chromebooks

This is for those who think Apple Music is a failure: it has already been installed in more than 40 million of devices. At the Android.

Apple Music for Android - Sensor Tower

Google Play data worldwide was compiled by Sensor Tower, which points out that 28% of the total is from the United States, followed by India, the United Kingdom, Brazil and Russia.

The research firm’s estimate is that Apple Music for Android installations will hit a record in the current quarter, reaching 3.8 million (which will equal an annual growth of 65%).

Obviously, it is worth noting that Sensor Tower has no way of knowing how many of those 40 million have become loyal subscribers. Many may have installed it, enjoyed maybe three months free, and then abandoned it. Still, it is still an impressive figure.

New support for Chromebooks

In response to all this success, Apple has done its homework by releasing periodic updates from Apple Music for Android on Google Play. Yesterday, another important one came out.

The latest version now includes support for Chromebooks and, in addition, brings new editorial highlights in the tab «Browse», making it easier for users to discover new music, playlists and more (just like on iOS). It also features traditional bugfixes, of course.
