Apple may launch new 11 ″ iPad Pro and update all Macs this semester

FamĂlia de Macs (Mac Pro, iMac, Mac mini, MacBook Air, MacBook e MacBook Pro)

Him, always him. Ming-Chi Kuo (analyst at KGI Securities TF International Securities) returned this week with new forecasts about Apple’s future releases. Without further ado, let’s get to the “news”:

iPhones

No news here. Kuo continues to bet on three models, two with OLED screen (5.8 ″ and 6.5 ″) and one with LCD (6.1 ″, which is cheaper less expensive). All, of course, would follow the look of the iPhone X, have Face ID as a biometric technology and come equipped with the A12 chip.

Unlike others, the analyst, however, believes that the 6.5 ″ model will come with two rear cameras, as well as the 5.8 ″ model; the 6.1 ″ model, on the other hand, would come with only one, as speculated (in order to make the construction of the device as a whole cheaper).

iPads Pro

Apple would be working on two new models but, unlike what you might imagine, the smallest has no 10.5 ″ screen. At least not following Kuo.

It bets on a model of 11 ″ and another of 12.9 ″, both properly equipped with Face ID and a screen occupying the entire front. If this is confirmed, it would be the second change in the screen size of the smaller iPad Pro (which was 9.7 ″ and now has 10.5 ″ in the second generation of the tablet).

Apple Watches

Nothing very new about Apple’s wearable, either. The analyst is betting on two new models which will have larger screens and improved heart rate detection capabilities. The supposed new watches would have screens of 1.47 ″ and 1.78 ″ – comparatively, the current ones have 1.32 ″ and 1.5 ″.

Macs

Here, yes, we have news! Starting with the Mac mini, Kuo didn’t say much but said that the Apple computer will receive at least one processor update – which is little, considering that the machine has been without a cuddle from Apple for more than 1,360 days.

MacBooks and MacBooks Pro also, according to the analyst, will receive the long-awaited processor upgrades – which usually come with improvements in GPUs and, who knows, in storage (size of SSDs).

The interesting part is that Kuo believes in the possibility of Apple launching a new “low cost” notebook. He originally said that such a machine would be a revamped MacBook Air, but now he thinks differently. For the analyst, the company will be able to launch a new model of MacBook (expanding the line of the current notebook of 12 ″) in order to replace the MacBook Air once and for all.

For iMacs, Kuo is waiting for a significant update to the display’s performance – even though he hasn’t gone into details about what exactly that would be. In addition, the desktop line would receive a processor update and general improvements, like other Macs.

AirPods and AirPower

According to him, AirPods and AirPower will go into mass production in the third quarter of 2018, suggesting that both may be launched alongside the new iPhones in September / October.

Apparently, the second half of 2018 will be quite hectic for Apple…
