Apple may launch its own circumaural headphones later this year

We have already published here some concepts of possible Apple circum-aural headphones, but effective rumors about the launch of a product of this type are unstable: the latter, which appeared more than six months ago, came from Bloomberg.

Now, the same Bloomberg (through your insider Apple, Mark Gurman) appeared again to reinforce the supposed launch of such headphones in the near future, possibly second semester of this year.

Ma's plans are mentioned very briefly in a story whose main theme is Sonos' future entry into the headphones market, thus constituting a future competitor of Apple in this sector as well. Even so, Cupertino's giant mention is very clear and apparently certain:

Sonos competes in a growing but already crowded market, which includes Bose, Sennheiser, Apple's subsidiary, Beats, and Skullcandy. Apple is planning its own circum-aural headphones possibly for the second half of this year, as sources say. Bloomberg last June.

More details were not shared by Gurman, but the fact that he corroborates the information six months later is already a positive sign that, at the very least, plans have not changed there in the Cupertino corridors. Regarding specifications, we can rely on the forecasts shared a few months ago by Ming-Chi Kuo: at the time, the analyst predicted that the headphones would have better sound quality than AirPods and would bring an active noise cancellation feature.

Let's wait and see.
