Apple may announce iMessage for Android during WWDC 2016

Rumors released by the MacDailyNews website mention that Apple would have plans to announce a version of iMessage for Android during the WWDC 2016 developer conference.

The publication claims to have obtained the information from «a source familiar with the company» and that the launch of the application would allow users to «switch between competing platforms».

Launched in 2011, iMessage is a communication service that works only within Apple gadgets, including iPhones, iPads, Macs and iPod touch.

If the rumors are confirmed by Tim Cook’s company, Android will be the first external platform to work within the Apple ecosystem.
