Apple makes donation to fight California fires

Again, unfortunately, the American state of California suffers from fires that spread from the north to the south west coast of the United States, causing evacuations and much destruction. In the most recent cases, Sonoma County, San Diego and Los Angeles airlines are the most affected.

Combined with the dry weather that affects California, the strong winds contribute to the fires increasing in proportion and becoming uncontrollable. California Governor Gavin Newsom has declared an emergency statewide.

The actor and former state governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, also needed to leave his home in northwest LA after the Getty fire broke out.

We evacuated safely at 3:30 in the morning. If you are in an evacuation zone, don’t be bogged down. Skirt. At the moment, I am grateful for the best firefighters in the world, the true heroes who take risks to protect their fellow Californians. #GettyFire

As usual in cases of environmental and natural disasters – such as the fires that affected the Amazon region last August -, Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, announced that the company donate to help fight fires:

Our hearts are with people affected by the fires in California, including members of our Apple family. Thanks to the rescuers who are working tirelessly to control the fires. Apple will donate to contribute to aid efforts. For everyone who is in danger, stay safe.

As we said, this positioning of Apple is not unprecedented: the company also donated to efforts to combat similar disasters that occurred in 2017 and last year, when other major fires hit the home state of Apple.
